What your team can see

How Community Access works

From application to a family's first quest, in five steps.

  1. Apply

Tell us about your organization and the families you serve. There is no cost to apply.

  2. ChoreSpark reviews and approves

The ChoreSpark team reviews every application. Once approved, your team gets its own partner account.

  3. Invite families or print codes

Email an invitation straight to a family, or generate one time codes to hand out at an event or print.

  4. Families activate

A parent signs in or creates an account and enters the code. No card is asked for, nothing is charged, and 6 sponsored months begin.

  5. Extend once if a family needs it

When a family needs more time, your team can extend their sponsored access once, by 6 months. An extension does not take another place in your grant.

  6. Add capacity when the grant runs low

Ask ChoreSpark for more households, or share a sponsorship link so an outside funder pays for more. Both add to the same total.

For sponsors

A company, foundation, local business or other funder can pay for more households than ChoreSpark's own grant covers.

The payment goes to ChoreSpark

A sponsor pays ChoreSpark, which provides the access. The nonprofit never handles the money, and the payment is not a donation to the nonprofit.

The households go to the organization

Funded households are added to the beneficiary organization the moment the payment clears. It invites families exactly as it did before, from one total.

Sponsors see aggregates only

Households funded, households activated, sponsored months delivered and broad program measures. No child, no parent, no address and no family activity.

An organization admin creates a sponsorship link from the partner dashboard and sends it to the funder. To arrange a larger or negotiated sponsorship, reach us through the contact form.

Clear reporting, private family life

Your team sees what it needs to run the program. What happens inside a family's ChoreSpark stays with the family.

What your team sees

  • Whether each invitation has been sent, and whether each invitation or code has been used
  • When sponsored access started, and the date it runs through
  • Whether the one extension is still available or has been used
  • How recently the household used ChoreSpark, only as not started, active this week, active this month or inactive for 30 days or more
  • How much of your funded capacity is left, and where each allocation came from
  • For a family you invited by email, the name and address your team entered. A family who used a printed code appears only as an anonymous household reference

What stays private to the family

  • Their children, including names, profiles and sign in details
  • Quests, completed chores and photos
  • Rewards, Sparks, XP and Doodle Time
  • Household settings and notifications
  • Anything about a payment, if the family ever chooses to subscribe on its own after sponsored access ends

Questions partners ask

Anything else? Ask through the contact form.

What does Community Access cost our organization?

Nothing. ChoreSpark funds Community Access. Your organization pays nothing to apply, to invite families or to extend a family's access.

When ChoreSpark approves your organization it creates your Community Access Grant for 500 households, at no cost to you.

Who can apply?

Nonprofits, schools and districts, libraries, health and family services, faith based organizations, public agencies and other community organizations that work with families.

Every application is reviewed by the ChoreSpark team before an organization can invite anyone.

How many families can we sponsor?

Every approved organization starts with a ChoreSpark Community Access Grant for 500 households. That is 500 households that actually activate, not codes and not invitations: an invitation nobody uses costs you nothing, and an extension for a family you have already sponsored does not take another place.

When the grant runs low your dashboard offers two ways to add more. You can ask ChoreSpark for additional households, or share a sponsorship link so a company, foundation or other funder pays ChoreSpark to fund more households for your program. Both add to the same capacity, and you keep working the same way.

To protect against misuse there are also operational limits on how fast codes and invitations go out: up to 100 codes and 25 invitations at a time, and up to 1000 codes and 500 invitations per day for each organization. If you are planning something larger, tell us through the contact form on chorespark.com first.

What do families pay, and when?

Nothing, at any point. A family is never asked for a card to activate Community Access and is never asked for one while it is sponsored. Their 6 sponsored months begin the moment activation succeeds.

When sponsored access ends nothing is charged, because there is nothing on file to charge. ChoreSpark sends reminders beforehand so the date is never a surprise.

How does the extension work?

Your team can extend a family's sponsored access once, by 6 more months, for a maximum of 12 sponsored months. The family gets an email confirming the new date. An extension does not take another place in your grant, so it stays available even once every household place is in use.

What happens when sponsored access ends?

Sponsored access simply ends. Nothing is charged and nothing is deleted: the family keeps the same account, with their children, quests and progress exactly where they left them.

If the family wants to carry on with ChoreSpark, a parent can subscribe from their own account at the regular price, like any other customer, and everything is where it was.

Can a company or foundation fund more households for us?

Yes. An organization admin can create a sponsorship link from the partner dashboard and send it to a company, foundation, local business or other funder.

The funder pays ChoreSpark, not your organization, and ChoreSpark adds the funded households to your capacity. Sponsors receive aggregate reporting only and never see a family. For a larger or negotiated sponsorship, reach us through the contact form on chorespark.com.

Can a family use Community Access more than once?

No. Community Access can be activated once per household, whichever organization or code it comes from. Every code works once.

Does ChoreSpark verify nonprofit status?

Applications are reviewed by the ChoreSpark team, who decide whether an organization is a good fit for the program. Approval is not a certification of an organization's legal or tax status.

What can our team see about the families we refer?

Your team sees what it needs to run the program: whether an invitation was sent and used, when sponsored access started and runs through, whether the extension is still available, how recently the household used ChoreSpark in broad terms only, and how much of your funded capacity is left.

Your team never sees the children, their quests, photos, rewards or progress, or anything about a payment.

How do we get help?

Use the contact form on chorespark.com and give your organization's name with your question. Partner staff can also find a quick start guide inside the partner dashboard.
